Superintendent Ramon Sawan, regional training director of the Philippine Public Safety College (PPSC) in Cagayan de Oro City, also earned the citation of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) for earnest dedication in training future police officers under a program he devised.
"Colonel Sawan serves as an inspiration to all the trainees at PPSC to do good and become good police officers," Assistant Local Government Secretary Brian Yamsuan said.
Sawan was among the six Dangal ng Bayan awardees named by the CSC this year.
Interior Secretary Ronaldo Puno said Sawan should serve as "a shining example" for all government workers.
Puno also lauded Gina Caniezo, DILG disbursing officer in San Jose, Antique; and Emmie Cawaling, of the local government operations office in Nabas, Aklan, for their dedication in their work.
Caniezo was also honored by the CSC in including her as a "Dangal ng Bayan" awardee along with Sawan.
Cawaling, on the other hand, was conferred the Pagasa ng Bayan award, along with 10 other government employees.
"The honor they have brought to the department will help it continue promoting and developing a culture of excellence in the delivery of frontline government services," Puno said.
As Dangal ng Bayan awardees, Sawan and Caniezo received a trophy designed by National Artist Napoleon Abueva and a cash prize of P100,000.
Both will be automatically promoted to the next rank with the corresponding increase in salary.
Cawaling, as a Pagasa awardee, received a gold medallion and a plaque of citation with a cash prize of P50,000.
On top of these monetary awards, Puno also approved a recommendation of the DILG Program on Awards and Incentives for Service Excellence Committee to grant incentives to Sawan and Caniezo in the amount of P20,000 and P15,000, respectively.
"It is notable to mention that among the outstanding public servants who have been named by the CSC this year, one of them is a police officer and two are DILG provincial officers," Puno said.
"We are immensely proud of their achievements and hope that other public officials and employees would follow their lead."
Puno said the honor conferred on Sawan will serve to inspire other police officers in strengthening the positive public image of the Philippine National Police (PNP).
He added the achievements of Caniezo and Cawaling will likewise serve as an inspiration for all department employees to strive for excellence in public service.
Police Trainee (PT) Juan Millo, who has been at the PPSC for over six months, attests to the good character and dedication of Sawan to PPSC and its students.
"Sobrang bait at approachable nya, sana lahat ng pulis at public servant ay tulad nya," Millo said.
