‘Libreng Tawag’ for families of OFWs in Lebanon launched

Globe Telecom and Innove Communications launched yesterday "Libreng Tawag," a special outreach program for Manila-based families of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in war-torn Lebanon.

Globe and Innove are providing cellular phones with pre-loaded credits as well as Globe cards which allow wireline and wireless domestic and international calls from any Globelines payphone and landline, Globe Handyphone and Touch Mobile.

Through the initiative, relatives and friends of Filipino workers in Lebanon can have a chance to check the situation of their loved ones without worrying about the cost of international calls.

The free calls which are currently being offered at the lobby of the Overseas Workers’ Welfare Administration (OWWA) office at Gil Puyat Avenue in Makati City will go on indefinitely since the affected OFWs are yet to be transported out of Lebanon.

Meanwhile, Globe is already preparing its "Libreng Tawag" center at Camp Ola in Legazpi City in anticipation of the mass evacuation in the areas near Mayon volcano which is threatening to erupt in the weeks to come.

Mt. Mayon began spewing lava last Friday and residents were already warned to leave their homes before the situation worsens.
