11 police officials affected by PNP revamp

Eleven police officials, most of them generals, were affected by the latest reshuffle in the Philippine National Police (PNP) that was announced last night.

The reshuffle had the approval of PNP chief Director General Arturo Lomibao, and the National Police Commission. The reshuffle is considered one of the major movements within the police force since Lomibao assumed office in March 2005.

PNP spokesman Chief Superintendent Leopoldo Bataoil announced the reshuffle during a program aired over state-run television station NBN 4. It will take effect on Feb. 16.

Bataoil will be assigned to the Northern Police District, replacing Chief Superintendent Raul Gonzales, who will be assigned to Cordillera vice Chief Superintendent Leonardo Dionisio.

Dionisio will be the new chief of the Civil Security Group, replacing Chief Superintendent Jaime Caringal, who will take over Western Mindanao vice Chief Superintendent Prospero Noble.

Noble will be the chief of the Southern Tagalog region, replacing Chief Superintendent Jesus Versoza, who will be the chief of the much-coveted Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG).

Bataoil’s post will be taken over by Senior Superintendent Samuel Pagdilao, who used to be the deputy for administration of the Quezon City Police District.

Chief Superintendent Rene Elumbaring, who used to be the director of the CARAGA region, will be on "floating" or non-duty status while Chief Superintendent Raul Bacalzo will be assigned to the Headquarters Support Service, replacing Chief Superintendent Geary Barias.

Bacalzo’s vacated post, that of secretary to the Chief Directorial Staff, will be taken over by Senior Superintendent Josefino Cataluna while Barias will become the director of the CARAGA region.
