President Arroyo has temporarily stayed the execution of 13 death row inmates, including 11 convicted rapists, some of whom raped their own daughters.
The convicts, who were all scheduled to die by lethal injection at the National Penitentiary in Muntinlupa City next month, earned 90-day reprieves.
Mrs. Arroyo, who opposes capital punishment, has routinely granted stays of execution to death row inmates since coming to power in 2001.
For Jimmy Jacob, convicted of raping his own daughter while she was a minor, it was his 12th reprieve. It was the 10th reprieve for both Pablo Santos and Ireneo Padilla, also convicted of raping their own minor daughters.
Panfilo Quimson, convicted of multiple murder, earned his 10th reprieve, while it was the ninth reprieve for Dindo Pajotal, who killed a man while committing a robbery.
The President also pardoned four male inmates aged at least 70. Three are serving time for rape and the other for homicide. AFP
