QC street now honors movie industry leader

A street in Quezon City was renamed yesterday to honor a local movie industry leader in a ceremony led by Mayor Feliciano Belmonte, accompanied by local officials and leaders of the entertainment industry.
Granada street in Barangay Valencia is now known as Sen. Jose O. Vera street.
Vera founded Sampaguita Pictures before World War II. Sampaguita was one of the countrys four largest moviemakers. It also made Quezon City the countrys entertainment capital during the 1950s.
The city council passed an ordinance renaming the street following a resolution passed by council majority leader Antonio Enrile Inton Jr.
