November 7, 2003 | 12:00am
Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Gov. Rafael Buenaventura was among 15 people, including East Timor President Kay Rala Xanana Gusmao, who received the Stars of Asia award from former United States President Bill Clinton at a CEO forum in Hong Kong yesterday.
However, German doctor Norbert Vollertsen, 45, who had worked in North Korea, snubbed the ceremony for alleged financial reasons.
Vollertsen questioned the choice of nominees, saying "maybe Mr. Clinton can dedicate the award to the real stars of Asia, the starving children of North Korea who are desperately waiting for their one and only security guarantee." AFP
