PAL to fly additional LA-Manila flight

- Sandy Araneta -
Flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) will operate an additional direct flight between Manila and Los Angeles, California from June 6 to 27.

The extra flight is meant to accommodate heavy demand during the summer season in the United States.

The new frequency will operate every Friday using wide body Airbus A340-300 aircraft. Flight PR112 departs Manila at 8:30 p.m. and arrives in Los Angeles at 6:50 p.m. the same day.

Meanwhile, the return service, PR 113, departs Los Angeles at 9 p.m. and touches down in Manila at 5:10 a.m. two calendar days later, after a brief technical stop in Honolulu, Hawaii.

This would bring total frequencies on the premier trans-Pacific route to 10 each week, said PAL in a statement.

PAL already operates a daily service on the route utilizing a Boeing 747-400 aircraft, as well as extra Wednesday and Sunday flights with the A340-300.

Last month, PAL added a fourth weekly frequency to its service between Manila and Vancouver, Canada, also on account of heavy demand.

PAL has been considered as the largest carrier operating between the Philippines and the United States, with 23 non-stop flights weekly between Manila and four Pacific and West Coast points — 10 to Los Angeles, eight to San Francisco, two to Honolulu and three to Guam.
