Orosa receives Commander’s Cross from Germany

-
The Commander’s Cross of the Order of Merit, one of Germany’s highest awards, was conferred on Rosalinda L. Orosa, STAR cultural columnist-critic-essayist, by the German Federal Republic through Ambassador Herbert D. Jess in formal ceremonies at the embassy residence. The award was given for Orosa’s erudite, perceptive and remarkable coverage of German-Philippine cultural relations, particularly in the performing arts, for four decades. She received her first German award, the Officer’s Cross of Merit, in 1976. A letter from J.M. Evans, president of the American Biographical Institute based in N. Carolina, informs Orosa of her nominations as "Woman of the Year 2002" for her "overall accomplishments and contributions to society."

Evans adds: "We have the pleasure of reviewing the endeavors of women around the world because of our list of recognized who’s who titles. Singling out a limited number to receive the accolade Woman of Year has been difficult indeed. Much deliberation was held to choose those whose achievements and dedication toward exemplary goals were among the best we have seen. My congratulations to you on your nomination."

In the year 2000, Orosa was likewise among the few nominated by the International Biographical Center of Cambridge, England, "International Woman of the Year." Her international awards include two each from Germany and France, a UN Decade of Culture Award, a Canadian citation and a Mexican essay prize. In 1989, she served as juror in the journalism tilt in Madrid Premios Internacionales Rey de España.
