Another OMA exec slain

- Katherine Adraneda -
Another senior official of the Office of the Muslim Affairs (OMA) was killed in an ambush late yesterday afternoon in Quezon City and a suspect was arrested, initial police reports said.

OMA project manager Nasser Baharana Bapora, of 13 Supress Drive, Menzy, Isabela City in Basilan, died on the spot after being hitclose range in different parts of the body, initial police reports said.

Bapora was the second OMA official to have been killed in such a daring fashion.

On Sept. 19, OMA deputy executive director Kharis Mikunog, 52, was shot to death by one of two men who casually approached his car at the basement parking of his office in E. Rodriguez Boulevard in Quezon City. The case is still unsolved as the killers remained at large.

The suspect in the killing of Bapora was identified as Andiong Udas Ambok, 27, of Balingayeng, Davao City, who was arrested after a chase.

SPO1 Joey Valencia said Bapora was killed at about 4:30 p.m. along Araneta Avenue near Kitanlad street in Barangay Tatalon.

Initial investigation showed that the suspect approached Bapora’s red Nissan Sentra with license plates URY-829 after it stopped at an intersection when the traffic lights turned red.

Three other suspects, who escaped, acted as lookouts for Ambok, police said.

Policemen from the Central Police District-Galas station who were patrolling the area witnessed the actual shooting of Bapora, reports said.

The suspect’s motive for killing Bapora is being established by the police. The suspect refused to answer initial questions.
