Bacolod resident wins P145-M lotto jackpot

A lucky bettor from Bacolod City won the other night the P145.8-million SuperLotto jackpot, the biggest prize so far won by an individual since the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) launched its on-line lottery games in 1995.

In January 1998, a prize worth P161 million was split by two winners.

Condrado Zabella, PCSO assistant general manager, said the still unidentified winner picked the combination 04-07-24-26-32-34 of the 6/49 Super lotto in a lotto outlet in Bacolod City’s Hidalgo Street.

The 6/49 lotto games is played every Thursday and Sunday.

No details about the winner of the P145.82-million prize were given. As a policy and due to security concerns, the PCSO keeps the identities of winners confidential, except when the winner wishes to go public.

Thousands of lotto fans, notably in Metro Manila, had lined up to buy tickets for the 6/49 draw. Most of those who bought tickets told The STAR that 6/49 numbers have personal significance.

Zabella said sales of lotto tickets have surged after the jackpot prize hit P100 million. He said sales have increased from P20 million per day to P30 million per day.

Zabella said the winner from Bacolod City has joined the ranks of more than 500 PCSO instant millionaire club, who have won prizes ranging from P3 million to P145 million. Perseus Echeminada
