The Metropolitan Manila Development authority (MMDA) announced yesterday its rerouting scheme for the Presidents State of the Nation Address (SONA) tomorrow afternoon.
According to the MMDA Traffic Operation Center, Commonwealth Avenue will be closed to traffic from the Quezon Memorial Circle at 12 noon, in anticipation of the 2 p.m. SONA delivery at the Batasan Pambansa Complex.
North-bound motorists headed for Fairview, Lagro, Novaliches and Bulacan and passing through Commonwealth Avenue should turn left on Tandang Sora Avenue, turn right on Mindanao Avenue, turn right on Old Sauyo Road, then turn left on Chestnut street and turn right on Dahlia Avenue, take a left turn on Fairlane street, and turn left on Regalado Avenue, which will take them all the way to Quirino Highway, Lagro and Bulacan.
Vehicles coming from Commonwealth Avenue and Ever Gotesco should turn left on Don Antonio, left on Sampaguita street, left on Dao street., right on Chestnut street, right on Republic Avenue and continue until they reach Regalado Avenue Extension.
Motorists coming from Quezon Memorial Circle may turn right on Visayas Avenue, turn left on Tandang Sora Avenue, turn right on Mindanao Avenue and turn right on Old Sauyo Road.
They may also choose to turn right on North Avenue, turn right on Mindanao Avenue, turn right on Old Sauyo Road, turn left on Chestnut, turn right on Dahlia, turn left on Fairlane street and come out on Regalado Avenue.
For motorists coming from the Quezon Memorial Circle-Visayas Avenue area and headed to Novaliches proper and the Caloocan Bukid Area, turn left from Visayas Avenue. at Tandang Sora Avenue, turn right on Mindanao Avenue to Quirino Highway, turn right and head towards the Novaliches Proper and Caloocan Bukid Area.
For motorists coming from the Quezon Avenue-Quezon Memorial Circle area to San Mateo, the MMDA advises taking this alternative route: Take Matalino street., turn right at C.P. Garcia street to Pansol-San Mateo to the House of Representatives.
Vehicles from Kamias Road heading toward Xavierville may turn left on Katipunan Avenue, then turn right on Pansol to San Mateo Road and continue to the House of Representatives.
Motorists coming from Aurora Boulevard can turn left on Katipunan Avenue, right at Pansol to San Mateo and to San Mateo Road.
This route may be used by motorists heading for Philcoa via UP Balara and Tumana Bridge in Marikina City: Coming from the House of Representatives, take the San Mateo Road, then turn right on J. P. Rizal street (San Mateo junction) leading to Marikina, then turn right at Bagong Farmers Avenue leading to Tumana Bridge. At the end of Bagong Farmers Avenue is the Tumana Bridge, which is connected to Moscow street in Loyola and Villas subdivision. At the end of Moscow street, motorists can turn right to exit on Katipunan Extension. Katipunan Extension will lead to Zigzag Road, with an upward slope leading to UP Balara. Zigzag Road terminates at Fitzgerald street, where motorists may take an unnamed street to MWSS-Balara Road. Once on MWSS-Balara Road, turn right on Katipunan Avenue, continue until you reach Tandang Sora Extension, and eventually, Commonwealth Avenue.
Turning left at Katipunan Avenue will lead motorists to Aurora Boulevard, where they may proceed straight ahead to the MWSS-Balara Road and the UP Compound entrance through which they may pass to get to Philcoa.
Motorists coming from the Fairview-Commonwealth Avenue area headed for Congressional Avenue in Project 8 using Old Sauyo Road and Mindanao Avenue to EDSA are advised to take this route: Coming from Fairview-Commonwealth Avenue, turn right on Regalado Extension going to the FEU Medical Center near Commonwealth Avenue and the Commission on Audit (COA), Regalado street., a Caltex gasoline station, Jollibee Food Center and Fairview Shopping mall.
From North Fairview-Commonwealth Avenue turn right on Fairlane street, right on Dahlia street and left on Chestnut, then turn right on Old Sauyo Road and head for Mindanao Avenue; from Mindanao Avenue, make a U-turn and all the way to North Avenue-EDSA.
