GMA makes sales pitch for beauty product

- Marichu A. Villanueva -
Being fairer skinned than most Filipinas, President Arroyo may not need skin-whitening products. But she endorsed such products anyway for Splash Corp., a 100-percent Filipino-owned multinational personal care company.

Mrs. Arroyo made the endorsement after inaugurating a new Splash factory in Canumay district in Valenzuela City, where she also conducted her weekly radio and television program.

Before her show, the President pushed the button that cranked Splash’s fully automated production line which makes SkinWhite and Hiyas Papaya whitening soaps, Splash’s most popular products.

The President featured in her program Splash chairman Dr. Rolando Hortaleza and his wife, Splash vice chairman Rosalinda, owners of the company that has successfully penetrated the large consumer markets of China and Indonesia.

"Splash products are very popular not only in the Philippines but also in China and Indonesia," the President said, noting that the company signed a distribution agreement with a Chinese company during her state visit to China last October.

"They already have a market in China and China is a big market," she added, urging the company to widen their product lines and their foreign markets.

The presidential endorsement of Splash products was also contained in her written message to the company.

"Your remarkable growth over the years bespeaks of the Filipino’s creativity, industry and initiative," the President wrote.

She said the inauguration of the new plant shows the company’s resolve to be at the forefront of efforts to bolster national development.

This is not to mention, she added, the additional jobs created by the company which has proven its ability to succeed in the highly competitive world of beauty products.
