Barristers welcome Carpios appointment

The Philippine Bar Association, the oldest voluntary association of lawyers throughout the country, has welcomed the appointment of former Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Antonio Carpio as associate justice of the Supreme Court
"His sterling academic background and vast experience in the practice and teaching of law qualifies him to be among the learned members of the Supreme Court, the ultimate repository of the peoples faith in justice and the rule of law.
Carpio also served as past director of the Philippine Bar Association, regent of the University of the Philippines.
He was cum laude and class valedictorian of the UP College of Law, 6th place bar topnotcher, editor of the Philippine Law Journal, Intellectual Property Journal and Journal of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines.
He was also a professorial lecturer in commercial law and taxation and executive director of the ASEAN Business Law Program of the UP college of law and a newspaper columnist. T>
