Former Kapisanan ng Mga Brodkaster sa Pilipinas (KBP) chairman Cerge Remonde was appointed officer-in-charge of Radio-TV Malacañang (RTVM) effective Aug. 20 by President Arroyo.
As this developed, Remonde, who resigned last Aug. 21 as press undersecretary, strongly took exception to a STAR report claiming he has "refused to give up his (RTVM) post."
"I serve at the pleasure of the Chief Executive. If the President tells me to leave then I will go. Its as simple as that," said Remonde.
The veteran broadcast executive, who left the top KBP post when he accepted the post of undersecretary, is concurrent chairman and chief executive officer of the Inter-Continental Broadcasting Corp. (IBC-13).
Remonde also placed on record that he is not receiving a single centavo as RTVM head.
At the same time, Remonde appealed to members of the press not to spin all sorts of intrigues.
