President Arroyo commended yesterday the Bureau of Customs, headed by Commissioner Titus Villanueva, for achieving a cash collection of P38.226 billion, which is P237 million over its official target of P37.989 billion for the period Jan. 1 to May 31.
The Chief Executive made the commendation after receiving the report from Commissioner Villanueva detailing the bureau’s cash collection for the same period.
The President expressed the hope that the Bureau of Customs will be able to achieve more than the P237-million excess cash collection they have made by the end of June 2001.
Villanueva, who assumed the leadership of the bureau shortly after the President was installed to power last Jan. 20, pledged his commitment to the five-month-old administration’s policy of good governance.
"I always remember the rare privilege she has given me to head the bureau," Villanueva said.
