GMA names 24 new judges

President Arroyo named yesterday 24 new judges to various regional, metropolitan and municipal trial courts nationwide.

Chief Presidential Counsel Avelino Cruz Jr. submitted the list of new judges last June 13 to Luzviminda Puno, Supreme Court Clerk of Court, who is secretary of the Judicial and Bar Council.

Of the 24 new judges, nine were assigned to Manila; three to Cebu; and one each to Isabela, Aklan, Danao City, Toledo City, Dumaguete City, Tagbilaran, Leyte, Jolo, Sulu, Davao del Sur, Surigao del Sur, and Lanao del Norte.

The following were named to the Regional Trial Court of Manila: Cesar Solis, Marivic Balisi-Umali, Aida Rangel-Roque, Placido Marquez, Edelwina Catubig-Pastoral, William Simon Peralta, Reynaldo Alhambra and Rosario Cruz-Cruz.

Appointed to the Metropolitan Trial Court of Manila was Emmanuel Larredo.

Other new regional trial court judges are: Bagis Ismael in Jolo, Alfredo Jaslad in Surigao del Sur, Albert Axalan in Davao del Sur, Sylva Aguirre-Pederanga in Danao City, Elmo del Rosario in Kalibo in Aklan, and Anastacio Anghad in Santiago in Isabela.

The new municipal trial court judges are: Anisah Bagul Amanadin in Iligan City, and Ma. Cleofe Veloso-Militante in Baybay in Leyte. Jaspar Jesse Dacnay was assigned judge in the Municipal Circuit Trial Court in Liloan-Campostela in Cebu.

Named judges to municipal trial courts in cities are: Arnalik Espinosa Jr. in Iloilo City, Anatalio Necesario, Edgemelo Rosales in Cebu City, Ruben Altubar in Toledo City, Roderick Maxino in Dumaguete City, and Sisinio Virtudozo, in Tagbilaran City. –Delon Porcalla
