Guingona aide abducted in Manila

Eleven unidentified men armed with handguns abducted a member of the staff of opposition Sen. Teofisto Guingona in front of his house in Sta. Cruz, Manila around noon yesterday.
Police said Alberto Saulog, 29, was standing in front of his residence at 1719 Milagros st. when armed men appeared in a car and a white Twasco cab with plate number PYK-864.
The men dragged Saulog at gunpoint toward the cab which subsequently sped away.
Saulog’s mother-in-law, Flora Yumol, 46, said she saw the incident and tried to follow the suspects, but they pointed their guns at her and told her to just follow them to Quezon City.
Yumol, who reported the incident to the WPD at about 5:30 p.m. yesterday, told probers that she is not aware of any incident that could have led to her son-in-law’s abduction.
However, she recounted an incident last Wednesday where an unidentified man aboard a car with license plates ULW-465 poked a gun at the victim.
Yumol said the victim was standing near his house when he was nearly sideswiped by the car, prompting Saulog to shout and curse the driver, who later got off and poked a gun at Saulog.
Saulog’s wife Evangeline believes the incident could have led to her husband’s abduction.
Probers, who are coordinating with Guingona’s office, are now tracking down the mysterious gun-toting driver in the hope that it would lead to the recovery of the victim.
