Free water in restos

- Romel Bagares -

Henceforth, if you dine at a restaurant in Quezon City and you can't find any drinking water after you have had your fill, you can sue the owner for failing to provide customers with free drinking water.

Ordinance No. SP-887, S-2000, principally sponsored by Eric Medina, requires restaurants, canteens, fastfood centers and similar establishments to install free drinking water facilities for the use of customers. Mayor Ismael Mathay Jr. signed the ordinance into law recently.

Under the new ordinance, any restaurant owner or operator who violates its provisions faces a fine of P5,000 or six months imprisonment or both, at the discretion of the metropolitan court. -
