Some 60 people were arrested by agents of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group during lightning raids in two suspected jueteng dens in Quezon recently.
Reports reaching Camp Crame said that those arrested were either suspected bettors, collectors or maintainers of the raided gambling dens.
Police said those arrested were nabbed while in the act of drawing bolillos, or draw balls, for the winning number combination of the day.
Raided by the CIDG team led by Superintendent Eduardo Acierto of the Detection and Special Operations Office were a jueteng joint at the back of a barangay hall in Barangay Tapihan, Calauag town; and a rest house owned by a certain Gilbert Frundoso in Barangay Magsaysay, Tagkawayan town.
Seized at the raided gambling dens were P10,403 in cash bets, two sets of bolillos, bet records and other jueteng paraphernalia.
Police said the raided jueteng dens were allegedly owned by Charito Lee, alias Charing Magbuhos of Lopez, Quezon.
The raiders, however, again failed to arrest the elusive Magbuhos or any of her top henchmen.
