4 in Metro among 10 top RP schools in board exams passing average

Four universities in Metro Manila are among the top ten in the country in terms of passing average in state board examinations.

A report by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) and the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) showed that among the top board performers from 1994 to 1998 are UP-Diliman, second; University of Sto. Tomas, 4th; Pamantasan ng Lungsong ng Maynila, 6th; and Mapua Institute of Technology, 7th.

Xavier University in Cagayan de Oro City was the top performer of schools whose students took ten or more board examinations during the 1994-98 period, with 92 percent of its students passing state tests.

Silliman University in Dumaguete City is the second top performing university in state board examinations.

According to the PRC-CHED report, the rest in the top ten are Ateneo de Davao, 5th, 64 percent; Central Philippines University (Iloilo City), 8th, 56 percent; St. Louis University (Baguio City), 9th, 51 percent; and Mindanao State University (Davao City), 10th, 47 percent.

The report revealed that the schools which participated in one or two board exams but had zero passing rates were: Mater Dei College, St. Augustine College, Catanduanes Agricultural and Industrial College, Isabela School of Arts and Trades; Jamiatu Muslim Mindanao, Lyceum of Cabagan.

Tawi-Tawi Regional Agricultural College, Colegio de San Lorenzo, Deaf Evangelical Alliance Foundation, Lanao Norte Agricultural College-Dimaporo, Surigao College, Agusan-Surigao Colleges, Lanao Agricultural College Extension-Lanao del Sur, Sta. Monica Institute of Technology and Zamboanga del Sur Agricultural College.
