Father, son killed in TNT blast

ZAMBOANGA CITY - A father and a son were blasted to pieces when dynamite exploded yesterday at dawn in their house in a Muslim populated barangay this city.

Zamboanga City Police Director, Senior Supt. Karib Muammil identified the fatalities as Biting Jamjahari and his son Abduljabar, both fishermen and residents of Sitio Laut, Barangay Rio Hondo this city.

Muammil said that the explosion happened at around 4 a.m. yesterday inside the victim's residence. The wife of Biting, identified as Ida Mohammad, was critically wounded and was rushed by neighbors to the Zamboanga City Medical Center.

Investigation disclosed that the father and son were preparing to go out fishing when the dynamite accidentally went off.

The explosion created panic among the residents of at least five barangays in the city proper following military and police intelligence reports that the city is one of the Abu Sayyaf's targets for bomb attacks.
