CEBU - Three anti-narcotics policemen were beaten up by angry residents of Guadalupe last Tuesday night after one of them allegedly sexually harassed two female passersby and robbed a man of his cellular phone.
The policemen, Giovani Temones, Emmanuel Villanueva and Eduaredo Gamit, who were in civilian clothes, were identified by Lovelyn Ibon and Azenith Antonio as the ones who allegedly sexually harassed them and by Marvin Antonio as the ones who took his cellphone.
Lovelyn and Azenith said they were walking together in Green Village in Guadalupe at about 9:30 p.m. when Temones allegedly touched maliciously Lovelyn's waist and gave Azenith's shoulder a squeeze.
Marvin, who was also passing by, claimed he was robbed by the policemen of his cellular phone. He said Temones identified himself as a policeman when he tried to get back his cellphone.
Witnesses said they saw one of the policemen choke and slap Marvin.
The policemen also reportedly hurt a five-year-old boy named Raymond. His grandmother Generita said Raymond was pushed by one of the policemen, causing the boy to fall on the pavement and suffer scratches.
At least 10 residents, who witnessed the incident, rushed to help the victims and attacked the policemen who were carrying no firearms.
