Makati doc hangs self
A 44-year-old doctor allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself with a cable cord tied against a window grill in his Makati residence Monday afternoon, the police said.
Senior Police Officer 4 Leonardo Timtiman identified the fatality as Dr. William Dellosa, married, a physician at the National Orthopedic Hospital In Quezon City, resident of 1792 Dian St., Barangay Palanan in Makati. Dellosa also served as a consulting physician at the St. Luke's Medical Center.
Dellosa's body was discovered by his housemaid Alma Domanico and his eldest son Marvin at around 5:00 p.m. The maid told probers that she last saw Dellosa while having a cup of coffee at around 7:00 a.m. She said doctor then proceeded to his room after finishing his coffee and gave her specific instructions that he did not want to be disturbed.
Domanico said that at around 5:00 p.m. the mother of the victim, Perla Dellosa, ordered her and their three neighbors to forcibly open the door of the victim's room after he failed to respond to calls.
Investigator Gorgonia Asi of the Southern Police District said they found suicide notes from Dellosa's bag. But the victim's sister, identified as Criselda Dellosa Reyes, refused to turn over the alleged suicide notes to the police on the advise of the family's lawyer.
The police said Reyes also signed a waiver stating that the family did not want an autopsy conducted on the victim's body.
Police Officer 2 Juvenal Barbosa, a member of the Makati police team that proceeded to the suicide scene, said investigators were not able to read the suicide notes. "The family does not want its members put to shame. We respect their decision to hold on to the suicide notes," Barbosa said.
