The Department of Health (DOH) has cited Las Piñas main health center as a model public health facility in the country in recognition for its promotion of quality services to the people.
The city government was also awarded with P1 million cash as part of the prizes in the DOH "Sentrong Sigla" contest nationwide.
In a statement, delighted Mayor Nene Aguilar said he is very proud to receive the award on behalf of the doctors, nurses, and all public health personnel of the city for their unselfish and dedicated service to the people of Las Piñas.
Las Piñas city government has more than 20 modern and newly renovated health centers in the city's 20 barangays complete with facilities and equipment for better health services accessible to all city residents.
The priority given to health centers is Aguilar's commitment to provide high standard of health services with adequate funding from the city government.
Health Secretary Alberto Romualdez noted the Las Piñas city government's efforts in bringing public health service closer to the people, thus, earning the highest achievement in the delivery of quality health service.
Sentrong Sigla is a movement spearheaded by the health department in cooperation with local government units aimed at promoting quality service by health centers and hospitals to the people, particularly the poor.
