Senator Go sends aid to Talisay fire victims

CEBU, Philippines — Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go extended assistance to 58 families affected by a fire in sitio Isla Verde, Barangay San Isidro, Talisay City on September 23.

The assistance was distributed at the San Isidro Multi-Purpose Activity Center. Go’s office provided the fire victims with financial assistance, grocery packs, gallons of water, vitamins, vests, balls, snacks, and other relief items.

To recall, the third-alarm fire that broke out in the area on September 12 razed at least 47 residential structures.

At least 210 individuals were displaced by the fire, which caused an estimated P1.35 million in property damage.

During the distribution of aid, Go spoke with the fire victims through a live video call. He encouraged them to remain strong and hopeful as they cope with the aftermath of the disaster.

He also expressed his gratitude to Barangay Captain Nerio Zafra, who attended the distribution activity, as well as Mayor Samsam Gullas, Vice Mayor Choy Aznar, Rep. Rhea Gullas, and other local officials for their support.

The assistance forms part of the senator’s efforts to provide immediate support to families affected by disasters and other emergencies. — (FREEMAN)
