Abra Weavers sasabak sa EASL
MANILA, Philippines — Ibabandera ng MPBL at Abra Weavers ang bandila ng Pilipinas sa makasaysayang paglahok sa East Asia Super League para sa 2026-2027 Season simula sa Oktubre.
Inanunsyo ng EASL at MPBL kahapon ang pambihirang partnership na magsasali sa regional pro league ng Pinas sa unang pagkakataon sa international regional league naman na EASL sa Asya sa kauna-unahang pagkakataon.
“This is a proud moment for the MPBL. From the beginning, our vision has been to create opportunities for Filipino basketball to continue growing. The Abra Weavers have shown what is possible when a team represents its community with ambition, discipline and pride,” ani MPBL founder Manny Pacquiao.
“Abra has quickly established itself as one of the Philippines’ strongest clubs, and we’re excited to see them compete against Asia’s best. Bringing the MPBL into EASL further strengthens our presence in one of the world’s great basketball nations and represents another significant step forward as we look forward to our biggest and most competitive campaign yet,” dagdag ni EASL CEO Henry Kerins.
Bilang reigning national champion ay Abra ang napili ng MPBL na isalang kontra sa Nagasaki Velca ng Japan B. League, Goyang Sono Skygunners ng KBL, Macau Hou Chan, TSG Ghosthawks ng Taiwan P.League+ at iba pang hindi pa inaanunsyong koponan.
Bibida sa koponan sina Encho Serrano, Dave at Shaun Ildefonso, Jake Figueroa at JD Cagula-ngan para sa Abra kung saan galing din ang PBA stars na sina Geo Chiu at Jason Brickman ng Terrafirma at Meralco bilang No. 1 at No. 7 overall picks sa PBA Season 50 Draft, ayon sa pagkakasunod.
