Isko seeks arrest of ex-city officials

MANILA, Philippines — Manila Mayor Isko Moreno is seeking the arrest of former city officials for their alleged involvement in the mismanagement of the local government’s funds.
According to Moreno, three former city officials are facing graft cases before the Office of the Ombudsman.
“There are affidavits and sworn statements against these people. Hopefully, warrants of arrest will be issued against them because some of them have plunder cases,” Moreno said during the Kapihan sa Manila Bay forum yesterday.
Among those with pending cases, according to Moreno, are former assistant city administrator Joy Dawis-Asuncion, former secretary to the mayor Marlon Lacson and former Public Employment Service Office manager Fernan Bermejo.
“Where can you see P300 million in cash advances in a day for job orders?” Moreno said.
