Batch 2012, 2010 reach Final Four in Division B

CEBU, Philippines — The defending champions Harley Davidson Batch 2012 and Hatch IT Solutions Batch 2010 knocked out their respective rivals to secure Final Four berths in Division B of the Sacred Heart Ateneo Alumni Basketball Athletic Association (SHAABAA) Season 29 at the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) Magis Eagles Arena in Barangay Canduman, Mandaue City.

Kendrick Siao delivered a double-double of 20 points and 11 rebounds while Aaron Baldwin Sing added 18 points, three rebounds, five assists and three steals to power Batch 2012 to a 75-55 rout of Batch 2006.

Kyle Matthew Dumon chipped in 10 points, eight rebounds, and five assists while Simon Guanzon and Dave Wilson Yu combined for 15 points,  14 rebounds, and nine assists for the dominant Batch 2012, which led at one point by 30 points, 75-45, halfway through the final quarter.

Chase Cokaling topped Batch 2006 with 16 points and two rebounds. Niel Benedicto and Mark Blanco each scored 15 even as they also connived for 19 rebounds, seven assists, and five steals to no avail as they already kissed their season goodbye.

In the other result, Batch 2010 punched a semifinals ticket after booting out Insular Square Batch 2005 in decisive fashion, 81-61.

Gabe Branzuela spearheaded Batch 2010’s 20-point demolition of Batch 2005 with 32 points, five rebounds, and nine assists.

Branzuela got huge support from Jasper Diaz, who produced a monster double-double show of 20 points and 27 rebounds laced with three assists, five steals, and two blocks.

Charles Divinagracia was the other double-digit scorer for Batch 2010 with 14 points on top of two rebounds, two assists, and a steal.

Elddie Cabahug fired 24 points with nine rebounds, three assists, and two steals while Aaron Uy collected 17 points, eight rebounds and two assists but efforts proved futile as Batch 2005 crashed out of the tournament.

In the semis, Batch 2010 will go up against the top-ranked ‘04 For The Win Batch 2004 while Batch 2012 will clash with the second seed Nest Workspaces Batch 2013. — (FREEMAN)
