MANILA, Philippines — Andres Muhlach is a proud twin brother to his sister Atasha Muhlach, who is a Dabarkad in the noontime show “E.A.T. Bulaga.”
“As a brother, I’m really, really proud of her and she is doing great. She is flying high,” declared Andres during a Viva presscon.
Andres furthered that Atasha gave him some pointers when he recently appeared in “E.A.T. Bulaga,” where the latter is now a regular host.
“Tasha, of course, is always there to guide me as my sister and really my bestfriend. Actually, just recently when I guested in ‘E.A.T. Bulaga,’ she dropped by the backstage and she caught (me in) mid-prayer because I was so nervous. And she told me, ‘Hey Andres, you got this. No worry, you know.’ So I really appreciate her for being who she is and being a big help to me.”
Asked if he would eventually want to be known as Andres Muhlach and not necessarily as one-half of the Muhlach twins, he said, “Because me and Tasha, even if we are twins, we have our own identities, our own personalities, our own set of skills. So eventually in time, yes.”
On how he is as a brother to his sibling, he shared, “I wouldn’t say I’m like super protective naman. Tash is a great sister and I care for her dearly. And I would always just wanna protect her regardless what happens or who or whatever.”
Andres has always had a knack for showbiz, even at a young age, after seeing his dad on screen growing up. “I’ve always been interested in the industry. It’s just that… Tasha is definitely more vocal about it. I was more the quiet type, you know.
“And I kept it to myself and eventually, in time, when I felt confident enough and comfortable, I had to talk with my parents and I really told them that this is really what I wanna do. And I wanna take this opportunity and not miss out.”
Atasha was the first to foray into showbiz among the two. The Muhlach family is set to star in TV5’s upcoming sitcom, “Da Pers Family,” which is to come out this May, along with their parents, Aga Muhlach and Charlene Gonzalez.
The No. 1 advice that the celebrity couple would remind Andres and Atasha was to “just always be nice and be humble.”
“Another that they would always say is humility is deepest ability. So just trusting in the process and enjoying everything as well. And having fun in doing what you do you have to love it,” added Andres.
Andres has been doing acting, dance, and singing workshops with Viva to prepare for his showbiz debut.
His dream role would that be of his grandfather (from his mother side) Bernard Bonin, who portrayed Palos in films based on the classic comic character of the same name.
Andres has been dubbed as The Prince of Hearts in showbiz. When queried about any celebrity whom he would like to be paired with, he didn’t give a name.
“Honestly, anyone really because given this opportunity I wanted to take a chance to learn from other actors, actresses. Every experience I understand it will be different but it’s all part of the learning process. So if you’re gonna ask me who, I can’t tell.”
He also has a celebrity crush but didn’t drop a name. “I do but siguro na lang next time, I’ll let you guys know next time,” he simply answered.
Andres was studying Business and Communications in Spain but he left his studies there and will continue his education here as he gears up for his showbiz career.
“I have one year left in my studies in Spain. But I will not be going back. I will be doing my education here eventually. Me and my parents came to the agreement that since I’m back, I should start to work already and start preparing for this.”
