MANILA, Philippines — The 2024 Golden Globes was full of unexpected winners and several flat jokes, but the ceremony's best moments happened off-camera.
Actor Mark Hamill recently shared a backstage photo of himself with actress Natalie Portman, both who have appeared in the "Star Wars" franchise but never in the same project.

Hamill portrayed the young Jedi apprentice Luke Skywalker in the first three films, a role he reprised in the sequel trilogy, while Portman played that character's mother Padme Admidala in the prequel films released between 1999 and 2005.
Luke and his twin sister Leia, famously played by the late Carrie Fisher, were Padme's children with Anakin Skywalker — the Jedi who succumbed to the Dark Side of the Force to become the Sith Lord known as Darth Vader.
The twins never met their mother as Padme died in childbirth, so the actors never would have had the opportunity to meet on any of the "Star Wars" sets.
"Now I have finally met my 'mother,' thanks to the Golden Globes," Hamill said in sharing the photo on his social media accounts.
Several of their fellow "Star Wars" alums were delighted by them finally meeting, including Ahmed Best — who played Jar Jar Binks opposite Portman's Padme — and Filipino-American Morgan Elsbeth actress Diana Lee Inosanto.
Portman was nominated at this year's Globes for Best Actress - Comedy for her role in "May December," which went to Emma Stone for "Poor Things," while Hamill presented the new Cinematic and Box Office Achievement award to "Barbie."
Back in 2018, Hamill admitted to have never met Portman before, and upon being told about it, Portman said she "would love to meet" Hamill as they indeed haven't met yet — until now.
