Handpainted barong by Franco modeled by Castelo

Danilo Franco is a noted designer. His clients include society matrons and young people alike.

But he is famous for his handpainted barong tagalog.

A ‘daring’ and innovative designer, Danilo experimented with his handpainted barong, pairing them with denims, sleeves rolled and shirt tucked in. Or worn like a polo shirt.

Singer-actor-activist Anthony Castelo modeled Danilo’s take on the barong on the pages of Weekend, Sunday magazine of the Daily Express circa 1981.

The late Danilo used to be with the faculty of a fashion school.

Anthony was once billed the ‘King of Love Songs,’ popularizing Balatkayo, which was composed by Tito Sotto.

In addition to music, Anthony also appeared in movies, including Pakawalan Mo Ako. He is a recipient of several awards for civic activities.  — RKC
