MANILA, Philippines — MoneyGram ambassador Robin Padilla visited Fukuoka and Osaka to meet with Filipino fans and MoneyGram business partners last October 6. His trip also launched the MoneyGram Lucky Draw Campaign.
The campaign is designed to appreciate customers who transacted via international money tranfer SBI Remit through MoneyGram services.
Running until the end of December, the lucky draw gives MoneyGram customers a chance to win up to a 3,000 yen worth of QUO card, plus over 4,000 QUO cards in prizes.
During the event, about 1,000 overseas Filipinos attended, taking selfies and enjoying activities with Padilla. Ten lucky customers were also invited to an exclusive lunch and meet-and-greet with the star.
“I believe that my endorsement is a great opportunity to strengthen the MoneyGram brand among the millions of Filipinos living and working overseas,” said the actor.
“Thanks to MoneyGram, all Filipino residents in Japan can now enjoy fast, easy, and reliable money transfer services to help support their families and friends back home or in any other country where MoneyGram services are provided,” he added.
"This is the sixth time that we have brought Robin to the Japan market. Modern-day Filipinos are recognized as ‘heroes across the sea’ and we endeavor to provide services to support their efforts,” said Sabrina Chan, marketing leader for Asia Pacific, Middle East and South Asia.
“Despite being separated from their loved ones, they work hard to provide for their families back home. By inviting Robin to visit OFWs in Japan, we hope to connect with customers and cultivate this emotional link to the Filipino community in Japan," she added.
According to World Bank, an estimated $1.17 billion was remitted from Japan to the Philippines in 2017.
To meet the growing demand for reliable money transfer services, MoneyGram has recently expanded its network in Japan with locations providing greater coverage of key areas, including Tokyo, Osaka, Fukuoka, Saitama, Ibaraki, and Tochigi.
