MANILA, Philippines — From a teen “Pinoy Big Brother” housemate to matinee idol, Kapamilya actor Gerald Anderson has now come a long way in his career.
Apart from hard work, he credited long-time love team partner Kim Chiu for helping him reach where he is now.
In a recent press conference for his new movie “Between Maybes” with Kapamilya actress Julia Barretto, Gerald said he would not have achieved anything if not for his love team with Kim.
“Kung hindi rin lang dahil sa love team, I wouldn’t be here. Ganon lang talaga ‘yung totoo. Dahil din sa love team namin ni Kim, doon ako nagkaroon ng confidence na to explore and doon din ako na-inlove sa craft ko,” Gerald said.
“I would say I’m very blessed and grateful. Siyempre it took a lot of hard work also para umabot din kung sa ano man ‘yung narating ko,” he added.
After being paired in blockbuster movies with different partners such as Pia Wurtzbach, Arci Munoz, Sarah Geronimo, and Bea Alonzo, Gerald is now paired with Julia for Black Sheep’s upcoming movie directed by Jason Paul Laxamana.
Gerald said he is excited and feeling refreshed to be paired with Julia.
“Na-excite ako. Lagi naman akong naee-excite pag may bagong leading lady na makakasama. Iba ‘yung combination, it’s very refreshing, iba naman ‘yung dynamics mo and siyempre it’s a challenge kasi kailangan kahit wala kayong pinagsamahang projects, kailangan magkaroon kayo ng chemistry,” Gerald said.
In the movie, Gerald plays Louie Puyat, who has been living his life in Saga, Japan until Hazel Ilagan (Julia) arrived and shook his silent life. They develop a functional relationship, wherein Louie checks on Hazel during her vacation.
“Between Maybes” will open in cinemas on May 15.
