MANILA, Philippines — Amidst historic landmarks, churches and houses spanning centuries, the municipality of Zarraga, Iloilo will serve as host to Laban ng Lahi 2018 (Global Platoon Run Challenge) on Dec. 18. Race starts at 5 a.m.
Platoon Run Challenge was designed to attract thousands of spectators and hundreds of runners as part of the weeklong Zarraga Pantat Festival.
Laban ng Lahi president and founder Joenel Pogoy said that the primary objective of the race is to promote unity. “Laban ng Lahi Run Challenge is not just about running, it is also about promoting our country’s culture, to improve and support local and national tourism, to achieve national unity and to give back to the community through livelihood projects. That is part of our advocacies.” The organization will also be funding Itikan Love Projects which is a duck-raising program aimed to benefit 1,000 to 2,000 of the poorest households per province.
Present during the event were Col. Jonathan Baldevarona, Zarraga Tourism officer/Councilor Erwin Guadalupe, Prof. Nolan Banda, Allan Catu with guest artists and influencers Moymoy Palaboy, Chard Ocampo, Erwin Ciar, Mico Superable and JC del Rosario. Expected to grace the Iloilo event are Andrea Torres, Miguel Tanfelix, Mitoy Yonting, Maymay Entrata, Edward Barber, Daniel Matsunaga, Rocksteddy, K Brosas and Ryan Bang.
