BOLIVIA — Philippine representative Alyssa Muhlach Alvarez ended her run early at the Miss Reina Hispanoamericana 2018 pageant as she failed to make it to the top 10 during the competition on Sunday at Salon Siriono Fexpocruz in Bolivia.

Nariman Cristina Battikha of Venezuela won the title, followed by Isabele Pandini Nigueira of Brazil as Miss Virreina Hispanoamericana. Completing the winners are Miss Mexico, Miss Paraguay, Miss Bolivia and Miss Chile.

Filipina actress and beauty queen Teresita "Winwyn" Marquez, who won the pageant last year, turned over her crown to the Venezuelan beauty.

“Maraming Salamat po sa lahat ng nag tiwala at sa lahat ng sumporta saakin,” Marquez said in an Instagram post before turning over the crown.

The Philippines joined the pageant for the first time last year, making Marquez the first Filipina to win the title.

Although Alyssa failed to make a back-to-back win for the Philippines, she made headlines for her Philippine-flag-inspired gowns designed by Benj Leguiab IV.

Reina Hispanoamericana is an international pageant celebrating Hispanic heritage and culture.

The Philippines has not won a beauty pageant title yet this year.

Next to represent the Philippines will be Ahtisa Manalo at the Miss International 2018 pageant in Japan on November 9; Katarina Rodriguez at the 68th Miss World on December 8 in Sanya, China; and Catriona Gray at the 67th Miss Universe on December 17 in Bangkok, Thailand.
