MANILA, Philippines — At her final bow as the goddess of love Erzulie in the musical “Once on This Island,” Filipino pride Lea Salonga received a standing ovation from the audience, while fans chanted her name.
Lea was hugged by her fellow cast members at the end of the musical that was awarded as Best Musical Revival at the Tony Awards 2018.

The final minutes of the musical was posted on the “Once on this Island” Facebook page wherein Lea can be seen to be very emotional.
Shortly after the performance, the Facebook page also uploaded Lea giving her gratitude to her fans around the world.
“To all of my fans that have been incredibly supportive since the very beginning of this journey, thank you all so very much from the bottom of my heart. The audiences that have come have been nothing but generous and kind, and they’ve been giving us so much life,” Lea said.
Lea describes “Once on This Island” as a musical that will have her heart forever.
“Hopefully our paths will cross again wherever my journeys will take me. I love you all,” she added.
On her Instagram account, the singer posted photos of her together with fellow cast members, who she said she will miss terribly.
Meanwhile, on her Twitter account, Lea shared lessons from her character, Erzulie.

Before the 2018 Tonys, Lea received an award as Best Featured Actress in a Musical from a website's annual Theater Fans' Choice Awards.
