MANILA, Philippines — Prior to the announcement that President Rodrigo Duterte has been included on the cover of TIME magazine’s May 14 issue in which he is referred to as a “strongman,” he has been captivated by the charm and beauty of Cebuana and Kapamilya star Kim Chiu.

In an interview with Philstar.com on Friday, Kim proudly said that she voted for Duterte in the last national elections.

The “Da One That Ghost Away” star also recalled what happened on Labor Day. She said she did not expect to host the event in front of the Philippine president.

“Actually nagulat din talaga ko. At first kasi, ang sabi lang sa amin, parang before the president will arrive, kami ‘yung host. Noong pagdating namin dun, arrival pala ni president ‘yung iho-host namin so parang nakakagulat na experience,” the “Chinita Princess” said.

Regarding the scene in Duterte’s speech where he was interrupted by Kim’s presence, to the point that he described the actress as “gwapa,” Kim said she was overwhelmed by the remark.

Kim has been launched as new endorser of healthy sleep systems Derucci. Established in 2004 in New York and boasting of 2,200 showrooms worldwide, the international brand is now in the Philippines with a flagship store located at the heart of Old Manila, the original premier shopping district.
