In the ‘50s, Virginia Montes starred in many movies, three of the most memorable were 48 Oras, Bandido and Kenkoy, all produced by Premiere Productions.
Bandido, directed by the acclaimed Ramon A. Estella, had Efren Reyes for leading man and title role. Efren was Virginia’s husband.
48 Oras, directed by Gerardo de Leon, was a masterpiece in the action-drama genre. Even a Hollywood film copied 48 Oras, frame by frame. De Leon was much later named National Artist for Cinema.
Virginia played Rosing in Kenkoy, with Lopito in the title role. Created by the legendary komiks novelist Tony Velasquez. Kenkoy was an enduring character also made into a stage musical.
