Miss USA commends Pia Wurtzbach, Miss Colombia after Miss Universe fiasco

MANILA, Philippines – Miss USA Olivia Jordan commended how Miss Philippines Pia Wurtzbach and Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez handled the mix-up during the 64th Miss Universe winners’ announcement.

On Monday (Philippine time) Steve Harvey committed a mistake in announcing the winners of the beauty pageant. He first announced Miss Colombia as the new Miss Universe, only to say a few minutes later that it was Philippines who won the title.

Miss USA was the second runner-up in the Miss Universe 2015 beauty pageant.

“I was so impressed with how both of these queens and our @paulinavegadiep handled this unreal situation with grace,” she said in a post on the official Facebook account of Miss USA on Tuesday.

She then expressed her sympathy for Miss Colombia, adding she believes that Gutierrez is destined to do “bigger things.”

“My heart breaks for our gorgeous Miss Colombia @gutierrezary,” she said in the post. “But I believe it is her destiny to do even bigger things this year and beyond! I have no doubt she will be unequivocally successful.”

On the other hand, she believes Wurtzbach will be an “incredible ambassador” of Miss Universe organization.

“@piawurtzbach will be an incredible ambassador for this organization and is also a truly deserving Miss Universe.”

“You both are winners!” she concluded.
