Philippine bet enters Miss International 2015 top 10

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippines is still in the running to be crowned this year's Miss International.

Philippine bet Janicel Lubina made it to the top 10 of the 55th Miss International pageant, held at the Grand Prince Hotel Takanawa in Tokyo, Japan on Thursday:

The top 10 are:

  1. Miss Brazil
  2. Miss Honduras
  3. Miss Kenya
  4. Miss Mexico 
  5. Miss Philippines
  6. Miss Thailand
  7. Miss United Kingdom
  8. Miss USA
  9. Miss Venezuela
  10. Miss Vietnam

The 20-year-old native from Narra, Palawan made waves at the local Binibining Pilipinas 2015 pageant earlier this year, with local and international media tagging her as "Philippines' Cinderella" due to her humble beginnings as a former house helper and farmer.

She hopes to succeed Valerie Hernandez from Puerto Rico as the next Miss International.  — Chuck Smith
