MANILA, Philippines – It will be a night celebrating Philippine legacy and flair as Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar holds its first musical show happening on Oct. 31 to benefit the Quiapo heritage promotion.
The concert is titled Harana: A Weekend at Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar with Lani Misalucha, Mel Villena and the AMP Band. It will be held at the newly-developed Hotel de Oriente Convention Centre, a replica of the country’s first premier hotel built in 1889 in Binondo, Manila. Misalucha will bring music all the way to Bagac, Bataan together with musical director Mel Villena and the 19-piece AMP Big Band.
A portion of the concert proceeds will be donated to the Kapitbahayan sa Kalye Bautista, atbp. Lugar, Inc. (KKB), a non-government organization based in Quiapo, Manila. The group is composed of members of all ages working together to educate the youth on the value of preserving the beautiful ancestry of Manila. it is named after one of the avenues in Quiapo called Bautista Street.
Quiapo, known as the old downtown of Manila, hosts several heritage homes and there is a growing need to educate its people of the value of the place’s history and why it serves to be a heritage district.
Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar, the heritage resort by the sea, shares KKB’s mission to promote Filipino tradition and culture. The new Hotel de Oriente Convention Centre is the perfect venue to highlight the goal with its marvelous artistry inside featuring designs handcrafted by local artisans. The convention center’s exteriors, on the other hand, serve as a reminder of ancient Manila’s splendor being a replica of the old Binondo edifice.
