MANILA, Philippines - Niño Muhlach is proud to say that his son Alonzo was able to be on the top of the class despite being busy with his showbiz career.

Alonzo is currently working on two films: Viva Film's "Wang Family" and the 2015 Metro Manila Film festival entry "Beauty and the Besty" which stars Vice Ganda, Nadine Lustre and James Reid.

“I’m really here to look out kay Alonzo para ma-balance niya ‘yong school niya and ‘yong work niya,” said Niño in a recent event where Alonzo was launched as the first endorser of Frabelle hotdog. “Kasi kahit ako noon gumagawa ng five movies never ako nag-stop sa school ko.”

“I still think puwede pa rin pagsabayin ang work at studies kung ma-schedule pa rin ng maayos. Iba pa rin ang nakatapos,” he added.

One way of making sure Alonzo has enough energy for school is monitoring his hours of work.

According to Department of Labor and Employment’s rule for employing children 15 years old and below, they should have a work permit, not work more than 8 hours per day and not more than forty hours a week.

“Maganda na ngayon kasi mayro’n na talagang laws regarding child labor,” Niño said. “Hindi na nila kailangan paalalahanan ‘di tulad no’ng araw walang mga gano’n. Now they’re protected.”
