MANILA, Philippines- Kim Chiu said that the issues and problems she went through in the previous years have made her stronger.
"I'm stronger na," Kim said in an interview on Tuesday. "Siguro sa lahat ng pinagdaanan ko in life, it made me who I am today. Parang wala akong ibang masasandalan but only myself."
This made her relate to Mulan, who was the Disney Princess she portrayed for Disney's 2015 calendar. The Kapamilya actress could relate on how Mulan stood up for her self and her family.
One instance is in 2014, when Kim won a best actress award for her performance in PMPC Star Awards for Television. Some people criticized her, saying that her competitors are more deserving of the award. Yet Kim stood for herself and said "I can't please everybody."
Although these trials didn't stop Kim on looking at the brighter side of life, especially since the films "Bride for Rent" and "Past Tense," and her teleserye "Ikaw Lamang" were warmly welcomed by the public.
"2014 is one of my most memorable year," she said, smiling. "Doon nangyari 'yong Mulan pictorial, 'yong Ikaw Lamang, 'yong PMPC Star Awards. So parang heaven. Parang 80 percent is so happy, parang 20 percent lang 'yong sige lang, kaya ko 'yan."
Despite all the success, Kim remains humble and doesn't forget to look back where she has started. She even relates that the all dolled-up Kim that people see in the television is different from the laid back Kim at home.
"When I go out it's really work, pero kapag nasa house I'm the old Kim [before showbiz]," she said. "Bisaya kami sa bahay. My family, they know me since bago ako pumasok ng showbiz. They look at me not as Kim Chiu [na artista]."
Menwhile, Kim happily confirmed that she'll be doing a teleserye with Xian Lim this year, which is based from a Wattpad story and will be under Star Creatives.
Kim said she owes this project to her fans who undyingly support her every project. "I'm just thankful for my fans. Kasi even if you put a lot of effort in what you're doing kung walang fans, wala rin."
