Last year, the MMFF earned P934 million within the same time period.

This means this year’s MMFF has outgrossed the 2013 MMFF by P15 million.

The film festival began Dec. 25, 2014 and will end this week, although some of the top grossers are expected to extend their run in theaters until next week.

The four top grossing films of this year’s film fest remain to be “The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin,” “Feng Shui 2,” “My Big Bossing” and “English Only, Please.”

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, which is in charge of the yearly film fest, did not reveal the box office ranking of bottom four movies.

“Bonifacio: Ang Unang Pangulo,” “Kubot: The Aswang Chronicles 2,” “Muslim Magnum .357” and “Shake, Rattle and Roll XV” complete the MMFF 2014's line-up of entries.

Unlike the previous years, the MMFF 2014 is devoid of any major controversies.

One of the producers of “Bonifacio” questioned the results of the MMFF Awards Night after winning the Best Picture award but losing in other major categories to “English Only, Please.”

But this did not affect the MMFF box office. the romantic-comedy movie is one of the film fest’s sleeper hits, while “Bonifacio” struggled at the tills.
