The American author and humorist Mark Twain once said, “To get the full value of joy, you must have someone to divide it with.†Isn’t it nice to have someone who makes you smile and fall in love over and over again? I guess we are just clueless romantics when it comes to happily-ever-after stories that force us to believe that true love can conquer all.
As we celebrate the love month, three inspiring stories of love and romance have recently hogged the limelight.
After almost a decade of being together, Drew Arellano and Iya Villania finally tied the knot last Jan. 31 at the Meditation Point, Kawayan Cove in Nasugbu, Batangas. The reception followed at the Bamboo Beach Club.
Drew and Iya were a picture of a happy couple on their special day. Iya looked beautiful and stylish in her wedding dress while Drew looked dapper and cool while waiting for his bride.
Since they have been together for a long time, the public was curious about their altar date. Will it be a church or a beach wedding? The guessing game lingered for a long time.
The private and solemn wedding was attended by their families and close friends including Gary Valenciano, Shaina Magdayao, Nikki Gil, Luis Manzano, Kim Atienza, Bea Alonzo, Iza Calzado, Matteo Guidicelli, Paolo Valenciano and Cheska Garcia.
Although a private affair, the public got a glimpse of the wedding from the guests who posted pictures on their Instagram, Twitter and Facebook accounts.
Iya and Drew exchanged wedding vows. “The past weeks leading to this day have been crazy, happy moments. But today marks the start of what I know will be a happy life with you. A life of freedom and adventure. A life of love that only seems to grow strong as we get older. A life of laughter at the silliest of things. A life of growing with each other,†said Iya.
On his part, Drew vowed, “Honey, I promise to give you the freedom to be a successful girl you’re destined to be… Know this. In this journey, I’ll hold your hand. I’ll always be there.
So don’t be afraid to follow your dreams and all the sacrifices I will bear. My love, I vow to love and care for you even if I run out of words to say. Let’s start this adventure and I promise you, through thick and thin, we will always be together.â€
Meanwhile, Aiza Seguerra is now engaged to her girlfriend, actress Liza Diño. They have known each other for a very long time.
The wedding proposal happened at the UP Faculty Center Theater (Teatro Hermogenes Ylagan) of the University of the Philippines-Diliman. They were doing a play titled Kung Paano Maghiwalay, a Carlos Palanca Award-winning screenplay staged in celebration of the 55th anniversary of the UP Department of Speech Communication and Theater Arts.
Liza had no idea that the last scene of the play was the surprise wedding proposal for her. Aiza gave her a blue sapphire ring. A roaring cheer from the audience erupted after the proposal.
Another soon-to-wed couple are Karylle and Spongecola vocalist Yael Yuzon (her boyfriend of three years). Karylle announced their upcoming marriage in a recent episode of It’s Showtime.
“Not a lot of people know, some three and a half years ago, a new chapter in my life started — the happiest and most exciting one yet. I started as a hurado here in Showtime and I became part of the Showtime family at kakambal po nito, dumating si Yael sa buhay ko,†she said.
“It was a sunny afternoon, guest pa ako dati sa Pilipinas Win-Na-Win, at kumain kami sa Mister Kebab kasi mahilig po ako sa kanin at after that we had coffee. And sinagot ko siya.â€
She then enumerated the lessons she learned from her It’s Showtime family. In the end, Karylle revealed, “Next month, we wed and the new chapter begins.†Some of Karylle’s male co-hosts serenaded her with a medley of romantic songs with a video montage of the couple’s pictures.
To the three happy couples, all the best!
