MANILA, Philippines - The Rachelle Gerodias Music Foundation, Inc., in cooperation with the Cultural Center of the Philippines, recently launched the first solo CD album of Rachelle Gerodias (photo, left), the country’s top soprano. Raul Sunico (right), Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) president and eminent pianist, as well as Rachelle’s bosom friend, accompanied Rachelle on the piano. The CD album, titled Philippine Art Songs, features a mix of immortal classic kundiman and balitaw. The album is now available at leading music stores.
The launch was held at the CCP hosted by Danny Dolor, art and culture patron. Other sponsors include George Yang, Esther Vibal and Tony Pastor, among others.
Rachelle has appeared in such operas as La Traviata, Barber of Seville, Turandot and Le Boheme.
Morever, she has performed in the US, Spain, Vienna, Bonia, Vietnam, Korea, Singapore and Hong Kong.
Recently, Rachelle was named one of the 10 Outstanding Women in Nation’s Society in the field of performing arts.
