GRR: Give love on Christmas Day

MANILA, Philippines - It is just a few days before Christmas Day and after we encountered calamity, disaster, famine, ill health and financial dilemma, ever fun-loving Filipinos are eagerly awaiting the celebration of the birthday of the Child Jesus.

In Gandang Ricky Reyes Todo Na Toh (GRR TNT) today at 9 a.m. on GMA News TV, mother and daughter Millie and Karla will be featured as they partake a festive Noche Buena with an impoverished family they saw roaming in their neighborhood.

Host Ricky Reyes (photo) visits poor families in Metro Manila to distribute gifts and food stuff; no wonder the recipients give him a new title — Santa Mother.

Meanwhile a Kapuso undergoing chemotherapy won’t be bald this Holiday season. GRR TNT surprised her with a wig made of human hair that made her look years younger and how.

Year in and year out the young patients staying at the Childhaus meet kindhearted donors and sponsors they call Ninong and Ninang. Last Dec. 15, the kids sang and danced for their godparents who came with gifts for them. A sumptuous merienda cena for the children, their guardians and Childhaus volunteers followed.

“No matter how we celebrate Christmas, the most important is giving love, especially to the less fortunate and sick. I hope and pray that more godparents, like Mr. Hans Sy (who donated the house and lot at Mapang-akit Street, Diliman, Quezon City) will support the temporary shelter for the cancer-stricken children,” says Reyes.
