MANILA, Philippines - With the Zamboanga siege in September, the magnitude 7.2 earthquake that struck Bohol and Cebu in October, and the unprecedented devastation brought by Supertyphoon Yolanda to the Visayas region early this month, to say that 2013 is a challenging year for the Philippines is an understatement.
But amidst all these, the Filipino spirit remains strong, continuously hoping — and praying — for better days ahead.
In its Pasko ng Pagbangon special tonight, GMA 7’s Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho (KMJS) seeks to further strengthen this resolve. Together with special celebrity guests, the program hopes to inspire the survivors of these man-made and natural disasters, and to celebrate with them a more meaningful Christmas this year.
Robin Padilla joins program host Jessica Soho in Zamboanga as they lead a boodle fight between government soldiers, Christians and Muslims.
Mark Bautista aims to showcase the natural beauty and the Christmas tradition of Bohol while giving tribute to the songs of one of Bohol’s pride, the late Yoyoy Villame.
Love Añover, in turn, goes back to Leyte to personally give her letter of thanks for the good Samaritans who selflessly provided assistance to her and her team during their Yolanda coverage.
The three beKINGS, Chokoleit, Michelle O’ Bombshell and Boobay, on the other hand, go Christmas caroling as part of their efforts to raise funds for the victims of these tragedies.
