Voice of the Philippines winner releases album

MANILA, Philippines - Mitoy Yonting, the first grand champion of the hit reality-singing contest The Voice of the Philippines, releases his debut album The Voice of the Philippines: The Complete Season 1 Collection under MCA Music.

The album, which is part of his prize as the winner of The Voice of the Philippines, features all the songs he performed during the competition in full-recorded version. He will always remembered during his blind audition when he performed his version of the Didith Reyes hit Bakit Ako Mahihiya. It was through the song that he was able to get two chair turns — from rock star Bamboo and Tony Award winner Lea Salonga, where he eventually chose the latter to be part of her team.

In the battle rounds, he sang a powerful version of Alone (Heart) and he was again chosen by Lea to advance in the live show. Mitoy wowed audiences again with his cover of Queen’s Don’t Stop Me Now in the first live show and was saved by public votes. During the Final 16, he performed Paano (Dulce) and made it to the Final 8. Up against another powerful singer Radha, he entered the finals with the song The Power of Love and debuted his original song Bulag, composed by Vehnee Saturno. During the first night of the finals, he performed a rock version of the classic OPM song Anak and on the second night — Total Eclipse of the Heart and Leaving On A Jet Plane. When he was named as the first grand champion of The Voice, he made Team Lea proud his version of The Beatles’ Help.

Bulag recently debuted its music video on MYX. During its video shoot, he entertained commuters and pedestrians as he was singing his single karaoke-style. He also interacted with his supporters as the video was being shot.

Mitoy’s The Voice of the Philippines: The Complete Season 1 Collection is out now under MCA Music on CDs at leading record stores and digital downloads via spinner.ph and iTunes. Visit www.facebook.com/mcamusic for more updates on Mitoy.
