GMA unveils new collection of Christmas short films

MANILA, Philippines - Since it was launched in 2005, GMA Network’s collection of Christmas short films has gone from earning the nod of televiewers to receiving awards from local and international award-giving bodies

Now on its eight year, GMA Network through its sales and marketing arm, GMA Marketing and Productions, Inc. (GMPI), upholds its Yuletide tradition and makes it even more meaningful as it gives back to those in most need.

Strengthening its social responsibility, GMPI has instituted a partnership with GMA Kapuso Foundation, wherein sponsors of the short films donated to the foundation’s immediate relief operations for the Yolanda typhoon victims.

Partnering with GMPI for the 2013 GMA Christmas Short Films are Cebuana Lhuillier, Smart HelLow, So Lucky Soda Crackers, and KFC. Select Kapuso artists, meanwhile, breathe life into some of the important characters in each story.

In Cebuana Lhuillier’s Iskolar, a young man waiting in line reflects on his family’s ups and downs, and their determination to overcome life’s obstacles. This Christmas, follow Benjamin Alves and Vincent Magbanua as they show how one can still give back despite life’s unexpected setbacks.

Jaclyn Jose stars in Smart HelLow’s From Dubai with Love. It is a comedy about a family who receives a Balikbayan box from Dubai for Christmas. Find out the unexpected twist in the story that’s certain to make viewers laugh and fall in love.

In So Lucky Soda Crackers’ Kahati ng Kahapon, Niño, the same young boy from the multi-awarded short film Hating Kapatid, is reminded of his humble beginnings when he meets he meets a young street scavenger. In the season of sharing, witness how Jak Roberto as the grown-up Niño pays forward the same generosity he received years ago from Nanay Perla (portrayed by Perla Bautista).

Inspired by the true story of a little girl, KFC’s Munting Sakripisyo featuring Barbara Miguel, Milcah Nacion and Kris Bernal will touch viewers’ hearts as they portray a day in the life of nine-year old Norhana whose unusual routine turns a simple story into an extraordinary one.

The latest collection of Christmas short films can now be seen on GMA 7 and GMA News TV. The films are also available online at www.gmanetwork.com/gmashortfilms.
